Through one of our clients, John Hessburg was asked to assist in the creation of a non-profit corporation run by Nate Kingsbury and Jennifer Miller. Nate Kingsbury is the pastor of Stoney Church, who planned on raising contributions to support the charitable activity of traveling on a regular basis via a used bus owned by the organization to various cities to provide food, hygiene products, clothing, spiritual aid and comfort to those in need.

With the assistance and work of Mike Vecchioni and Lisa Panah, the non-profit corporation “More Than A Bus” was created. The team was able to obtain the required IRS tax exempt status for the organization in less than two months. To quote Nate who thanked Mike: “Praise the Lord, I was so sad a few weeks ago thinking this would take three months to six months. Thanking God for his provision. Thank you for donating your time and being such a great blessing to us. You all are a part of making this ministry happen in our future…Your team, was a major reason why we are where we are today. Thank you so much, I hope and pray I will make you guys proud. And More Than A Bus will be an example of a ministry that you share with others as a success story.”

John Hessburg leads the firm’s Post-Acute Care practice. He began his career with the Kitch firm as a law clerk in 1984. His experience extends to all aspects of state and federal regulation of Post-Acute Care Providers, national coordination of medical device liability cases and medical malpractice defense litigation.

Mike Vecchioni is located in Kitch’s Detroit office. His practice is primarily focused on federal and state tax matters, particularly in the healthcare sector. Mr. Vecchioni has over thirty-eight years of professional experience focusing on sophisticated tax and various business needs of individuals and organizations. He has considerable expertise in providing tax and business transaction advice to tax exempt organizations.

Lisa Panah is a Principal in the firm’s healthcare corporate and regulatory practice. She focuses her practice on advising hospitals and other healthcare providers on healthcare regulatory compliance, corporate and transactional matters, including providing legal guidance in business transactions related to fraud and abuse, Stark law and tax exemption law compliance.
