It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Partner and Friend Susan Douglas MacGregor on March 29, 2022. Susan graduated from Ferris State University in 1981. After graduating from Ferris State, Susan started her law career as a paralegal in Big Rapids, Michigan. In 1985, Susan started at Valparasio University School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana. In 1988, Susan graduated from law school finishing 4^th in her class. Following law school, Susan worked for Walz, Stanton & Viel, a plaintiff law firm in Big Rapids, Michigan. In 1990, Susan moved to Marquette and worked for the US District Court, Western District of Michigan, Northern Division as a law clerk. In 1995, Susan made the leap to the Defense litigation side and became a part of Plunkett & Cooney’s Marquette office. Eight years later, in 2003, Susan joined the Kitch firm in its Marquette office. In 2009, Susan was elected as a Shareholder at Kitch. Susan is best known as a strong advocate for her clients as well as her dedication to many charities in the Marquette area. In one of her last trials in December 2018, Susan obtained a no cause for her clients; an Upper Michigan municipality and its city manager who were sued when they terminated the Police Chief. Kitch Chair and CEO, Mark Wisniewski recalls talking to Susan about the case, “I remember talking to Susan about this trial and the high publicity the case received. I knew Susan was the right attorney for the case. Susan was always well prepared for the many cases that she defended over the years. She was a great example of what all trial lawyers should strive to be during their career. She will be missed by everyone at Kitch; especially her Kitch family in Marquette and her daughter, Adrienne, who she truly loved.”
