The Michigan stay at home order has been extended through May 28, 2020 although some additional industries have been allowed to resume work sooner.

Residential and commercial construction, in-person real estate sales including appraisers, inspectors and registers of deeds, parking and forestry workers can resume work with safety precautions in place to limit the spread of COVID.

Michigan manufacturing can resume on May 11, 2020. They are required to conduct daily screening of employees using no touch thermometers, have a dedicated place of entry, train employees on how COVID is spread, stagger start times and meal times, install physical barriers, limit contact and the number of people on a shift, provide PPE, create protocols for minimizing personal contact upon delivery of materials and the use of shared tools and equipment. There must be frequent and thoroughly cleaned tools, machinery, vehicles and there must be sufficient handwashing or hand sanitizing stations.

Employers planning on reopening after May 28th should review the protocols required for other industries who have been allowed to reopen in order to prepare in advance as the same safety protocols will be required for all sectors of the work force.
