Nine attorney promotions were announced at a recent firm meeting. Those promoted included:

Paul Addis to Associate Principal. Located in the firm’s Mt. Clemens office, Mr. Addis focuses his practice on insurance defense, medical malpractice defense, plaintiff personal injury and criminal law. He received both his J.D. and undergraduate degree from Michigan State University.

Elizabeth Amaru to Associate Principal. Located in the firm’s Ann Arbor office, Ms. Amaru maintains a medical malpractice defense practice, focusing on birth trauma cases. She received her Bachelor of Arts in history from University of Michigan, and attended Smith College, where she was named to the Dean’s List. Ms. Amaru received her J.D. from University of Toledo. In addition to her law practice, Ms. Amaru serves as an instructor for a pre-trial skills class at Cooley Law School.

Beth Wittmann to Associate Principal. Located in the firm’s Detroit office, Ms. Wittmann focuses on appellate law–which has involved a wide variety of legal areas, including tax law, birth trauma, and premises liability. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from Kalamazoo College, and received her J.D. from Wayne State University. Her professional memberships include the State Bar of Michigan Appellate Practice Section.

Terry Durkin to Senior Associate. Located in the firm’s Detroit office, Mr. Durkin focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense litigation. He joined the firm in 2002, after clerking for the Honorable Thomas S. Eveland of the Eaton County Circuit Court. Mr. Durkin received his J.D. from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, and earned a B.A. from Millikin University.

Gary Francis to Senior Associate. Located in the firm’s Detroit office, Mr. Francis joined the firm in 2002. He focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense litigation. Mr. Francis received his J.D. and his B.A. from Michigan State University.

David Moll to Senior Associate. Located in the firm’s Detroit office, Mr. Moll joined the firm in 2002, and practices in the area of asbestos and toxic torts. Mr. Moll received his J.D., cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School. He also earned an A.B. in Economics from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Gina Mundy to Senior Associate. Located in the firm’s Detroit office, Ms. Mundy focuses her practice on birth trauma defense. She joined the firm in 2002. Ms. Mundy received her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She also earned a B.A. from Eastern Michigan University.

Margaret Philpot to Senior Associate. Located in the firm’s Ann Arbor office, Ms. Philpot is a member of the firm’s malpractice team. She joined the firm in 2002. Ms. Philpot received her J.D., cum laude, from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She also earned a B.A. in Management from Spring Arbor College. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a commercial actress and was an active member of the Screen Actors Guild for over 20 years. Ms. Philpot has served as an adjunct faculty member in both the intra-school moot court and law practice programs for the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

John Walus to Senior Associate. Located in the firm’s Mt. Clemens office, Mr. Walus joined the firm in 2004 and focuses on general litigation. Mr. Walus received his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. He earned a B.A. in History from Florida International University. He also attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and served in the Army for 22 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1994. Mr. Walus received a number of awards, including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Master Parachutist Badge.
