Susan Healy Zitterman leads the firm’s appellate practice and has been with the firm since 1983. Ms. Zitterman concentrates her practice on appellate and complex motions in cases originating with the Kitch firm, as well as those being handled at the trial court level by other firms. During her notable career, she has represented clients successfully in cases resulting in published decisions impacting Michigan law in areas of employment discrimination and tort reform.
In addition to her distinguished work in the appellate courts, Ms. Zitterman has published several articles on critical legal issues faced by healthcare institutions, particularly tort reform. Ms. Zitterman also serves on the Committee on Model Civil Jury Instructions; she was reappointed by the Michigan Supreme Court in December, 2006 for an additional three-year term.
Ms. Zitterman is licensed to practice law in Michigan, Ohio and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the United States Supreme Court. Prior to joining the Kitch firm, she served as a prehearing attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals and as a law clerk for Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Myron H. Wahls.
Ms. Zitterman received her J.D. from Wayne State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of Michigan.
