Jenna Wright Greenman and Ken Khahra received a no cause verdict of dismissal for the defendants after a two week trial in Wayne County Circuit Court on February 1, 2018. The case involved claims of both emergency medicine negligence and general surgery negligence, where a 57-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain, and returned seven hours later in septic shock, resulting in the need for stabilization and ultimately surgery to remove necrotic bowel. Prior to trial, the plaintiff’s demand for settlement was $5.5 million. Case evaluation in Wayne County had assessed the value at $1.5 million.
