Terence Durkin, Laura Witty
Laura L. Witty and Terence P. Durkin recently accepted invitations from the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA)to participate as members of the Quality and Accountability Committee. This will be Ms. Witty’s fifth year as an invited member.
Established in 1919, the MHA represents the interests of its member hospitals and health systems in both the legislative and regulatory arenas on key issues, and supports their efforts to provide quality, cost-effective and accessible care. MHA's vision is to advance the health of individuals and communities.
The MHA Quality and Accountability Committee reviews quality initiatives, accreditation standards, and policy changes to form the MHA's position on healthcare quality and management issues. The committee also authorizes requests for MHA data resources, and guides MHA data acquisition and exchange policies.
Ms. Witty is a principal and a leader of the firm’s highly-regarded birth trauma practice group. A member of the firm since 1994, she has developed a national-based practice representing medical providers and hospitals throughout the United States in birth injury and catastrophic damage litigation.
Mr. Durkin is a principal with the Kitch law firm. His practice focuses on defense of hospitals and healthcare providers in professional malpractice litigation. He joined the firm in 2002, after clerking for the Honorable Thomas S. Eveland of the 56th Circuit Court.
