Richard J. Joppich

Richard Joppich is a principal with the firm.  Since beginning his career with the firm as a law clerk in 1982, Mr. Joppich's clients have included dozens of hospitals and physicians.  His practice has encompassed a wide variety of medical issues, including emergency medicine, mental health law and liability, vascular, cardiothoracic and orthopedic surgery, radiology, and family and general medicine.  He is a seasoned trial attorney, and has also defended clients in arbitration proceedings and facilitations. In addition to his expertise in medical malpractice defense, he represents clients in the fields of commercial litigation and real estate.

Mr. Joppich is licensed to practice law in Michigan, the U.S. District Court of Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.  He is also active in several professional organizations.  He is a past chair of the Trial Practice section of the Washtenaw County Bar Association, and currently serves as a case evaluator for the Washtenaw and Jackson County Circuit Courts. 

Mr. Joppich has received pro bono service commendations and distinguished service awards from the Detroit Bar Association Volunteer Lawyer Program and Wayne County Legal Services.

He received his J.D. from the Detroit College of Law and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communications from Bowling Green State University.
