Sara M. Gerbitz has been a member of the firm’s medical malpractice defense practice since 1987.  With over 20 years of experience representing hospitals and physicians in trial and arbitration, Ms. Gerbitz concentrates her practice on the representation of healthcare institutions, managed care organizations and physicians in all types of medical malpractice litigation.  She regularly serves as first chair in major trials.

In addition to her distinguished work in the courtroom, Ms. Gerbitz frequently lectures to hospital and medical center staffs on legal/medical and managed care-related topics.

Ms. Gerbitz is licensed to practice law in Michigan, Ohio and the U.S. District Courts in Eastern and Western Michigan.  She is a member of the Joint Medical/Legal Committee of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and Wayne County Medical Society, and a national member of The Order of Barristers.

Ms. Gerbitz was named a Michigan Super Lawyer in 2007-2011. Only five percent of the attorneys in the state are named Super Lawyers. 

Ms. Gerbitz received her J.D. from the University of Toledo (Dean’s List), and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Ohio State University.
